HP Earns High Marks from Independent Research Firm for IT Asset Management Software

PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 4, 2006

HP today announced that its OpenView software suite received high marks and was named a leader in the "Forrester Wave: IT Asset Management Q3 2006" report from Forrester Research, Inc.(1)

HP received the top scores for its current HP OpenView software offering and strategy, and it tied for the No. 1 ranking in market presence, according to the independent research firm's report.(1)

In a separate vendor summary specific to HP's offering, Forrester cited HP OpenView for its "robust and comprehensive" IT asset management solution that is "almost insurmountable in both across-the-board functionality and strategy." (2)

In particular, the report called out HP OpenView for being "exceptionally strong" in finance, inventory and procurement management. The solution also scored high to excellent marks in all other categories, "making it ideal for fully comprehensive enterprise deployments."(2)

Based on technology gained through HP's acquisition of Peregrine Systems in December 2005, HP OpenView AssetCenter combines the strength of an "impressive IT assets management system" with the muscle of HP's research and development, sales and consulting services to add "greater corporate stability, support and a broader set of functionality."(2)

"As we envisioned, combining the Peregrine IT asset management offering with the HP OpenView portfolio created a clear leader in the asset management market," said Deborah Traub, vice president, OpenView Business Unit, HP. "HP OpenView better enables chief information officers to run IT as a business because it automatically estimates costs of business services and capital investments in IT operations for CIO budgeting and financial planning."

HP OpenView AssetCenter enables IT organizations to manage the physical, financial and contractual aspects of all IT assets - from request and procurement to retirement and disposal. As a result, customers can optimize costs, mitigate security and compliance risks, and align IT with the business.
