HP Receives Perfect Score in Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index
PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 20, 2005
HP today announced that it received a perfect score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2005 Corporate Equality Index, a system that rates how major U.S. corporations treat their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors.
HP has scored 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index for three consecutive years.
"HP appreciates that diversity is smart business and is essential for us to deliver more to our customers and shareholders," said Emily Duncan, vice president, Culture and Diversity, HP. "We are honored - and encouraged - to be recognized with a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index."
As America's largest gay and lesbian advocacy organization, the bipartisan Human Rights Campaign (HRC) works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity. To receive an HRC Corporate Equality Index rating, a company must be: a Fortune 500 company, one of the 200 largest privately held companies from Forbes Private 500, or a company with at least 500 employees.
"The glow of equality is illuminating thousands of factory floors, board rooms and cubicles across America thanks to leading companies like HP," said Joe Solmonese, president, Human Rights Campaign. "Now millions of Americans have workplace protections they would have only dreamed of several years ago."
HRC's Workplace Project also provides guidance to individuals and groups in corporate America in bringing more inclusive policies and programs to workplaces.
