HP Announces Three Affordable Notebooks for Small- and Medium-size Businesses

Notebooks enhance productivity and performance for mobile professionals

PALO ALTO, Calif., July 26, 2004

HP today introduced three notebook PCs that deliver reliable performance at affordable prices for small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers. The HP Compaq nx9020, nx9030 and nx9040 Business Notebooks(1) are designed for highly mobile professionals requiring wireless connectivity and long battery life for greater productivity, wherever their work takes them.

The notebooks offer a choice of display sizes, multiple processor options and wireless connectivity, with estimated U.S. street prices starting as low as $799.(2) With up to three and one-half hours of battery life, the notebooks keep users connected and productive in and around the office, in airports and hotels, as well as at home.

"HP delivers intelligently designed notebook PCs priced right for the budgets of mobile customers in smaller businesses - such as real estate agents and insurance adjustors - to medium-size businesses with field sales teams," said Ted Clark, vice president of marketing, Mobile Computing, HP. "The nx9000 series features 802.11b/g wireless so the customer will be connected wherever there is a hot spot available."

Enhancements to the notebook series include:

  • Performance: Powered by proven Intel® Centrino™ technology supporting Intel Pentium® M processors 715 to 745(3) with speeds from 1.5 gigahertz to 1.8 gigahertz and integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 with up to 64 megabytes of shared system memory for graphics, the nx9030 and nx9040 series support up to 2 gigabytes of 266-megahertz DDR (double data rate) memory configurable for dual-channel operation to maximize system throughput for optimal performance, as well as IEEE 1394 and S-video ports.

  • Value: Available with trusted Intel Celeron® M processors 320 to 340(3) with speeds ranging from 1.3 GHz to 1.5 GHz, the nx9020 notebook offers 1 GB of 266-MHz DDR memory configuration and a broad range of features, including integrated industry-standard wireless connectivity and two USB ports.

  • Productivity: A choice of a 14.1- or 15-inch XGA display, a choice of Microsoft Windows® operating systems, a full-sized keyboard, eight function keys and seven LEDs combine to rival the usability of a desktop PC while taking up a fraction of the space.

The HP Compaq Business Notebook nx9020, nx9030 and nx9040 can be customized with a full range of separately purchased options and is available now for purchase through authorized HP resellers or direct via the Web at http://www.hp.com starting at an estimated U.S. street price of $799.(2) HP also offers special lease programs through its Smart Financial Services on its Web site.
