HP Completes Novadigm Acquisition Furthering Adaptive Enterprise Strategy

Automated change management capabilities strengthen HP OpenView management software portfolio

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 2, 2004

HP today announced the completion of its acquisition of Novadigm Inc. (Nasdaq: NVDM). Novadigm is a leading provider of policy-based change and configuration management software that offers customers the flexibility to automate management of software assets and heterogeneous resources – within the IT data center, distributed throughout the enterprise and beyond the firewall – to address customized business needs.

Novadigm will become part of HP's Software Global Business Unit; Novadigm products are immediately available through HP enterprise and software direct sales channels.

Novadigm's comprehensive management products will be further integrated with the HP OpenView management software portfolio. The desired-state technology will enable enterprise customers to put their error-prone, repetitive and reactive management tasks on cruise control – ensuring that the right resources are automatically reallocated, tuned and configured to meet business needs.

Novadigm's proven technology adds further depth to the HP Adaptive Enterprise strategy by supplying information technology managers with the tools necessary to enable their enterprise-wide IT infrastructures to better automatically and seamlessly respond to changing business demands wherever and whenever they occur.

The acquisition is the latest step in the evolution of HP's software portfolio designed to enable customers to manage and control their own Adaptive Enterprises. HP has made six acquisitions over the last seven months that greatly enhance the HP OpenView management software portfolio and help companies to reduce costs by delivering capabilities that automate the dynamic link between IT and business.
