HP Extends Adaptive Enterprise Strategy to Enable Telecom Operators to "Make Mobile Personal"

HP announced significant improvements in two of its strategic market offerings: version 2.0 of the HP mobile Service Delivery Platform (mSDP) and upgrades in key elements of the HP Integrated Service Management (ISM) platform, including a new prepaid, real-time billing solution and an enhanced fraud management solution.
HP also announced new mobility support services to help companies support wireless local area networks (WLANs) and an agreement with Ericsson to deliver to enterprises an Internet Protocol (IP)-based unified communication solution to reduce costs and enhance employee productivity.
HP applies Adaptive Enterprise strategy to enable operators to be more agile
Mobile customers are demanding new personalized services that are relevant to their individual lifestyles. To respond, operators need adaptive infrastructures and the agility to respond quickly to deliver hundreds of wireless services that target many mobile consumer niches.

New capabilities of HP "twin pillars" address the services lifecycle
The entire mobile services lifecycle, from creation to ongoing management, is embraced by the two strategic HP frameworks, mSDP and ISM. Because they are standards-based and fundamentally modular, the frameworks can be deployed incrementally based on business need.
mSDP: creation and delivery of mobile services
Focused on the creation and delivery of mobile services, mSDP is an integrated framework of software and tools, partner solutions, carrier-grade hardware and consulting and integration services. As a single shared platform for all services, it streamlines the complex process and enables operators to bring new services to market faster. It also minimizes duplication, reduces cost and allows developers to create new applications without compromising the network.
The new version of mSDP includes: a pre-integrated platform core that links all mSDP components; pre-integrated adaptors for network management, location services and billing solutions; digital rights management; enhanced security controls; and an improved Web services creation environment.
ISM: usage and management of communications services
HP ISM is focused on the usage and management of communications services. It is the HP solution for business and operations support systems (BSS and OSS) including business consulting and integration, HP OpenView and partner software, and a new generation OSS framework that streamlines a wide variety of back office systems.
By automating these complex systems, such as mediation and billing, network management, customer care, and fraud management, operators can accelerate workflow, reduce costs, improve quality of service and create the OSS/BSS flexibility that is required to manage hundreds of new mobile services.
HP's new Content Mediation and Charging (CMC) solution enables mobile operators to manage, instantaneously, the complex processes needed to facilitate mobile data transactions between prepaid customers, the content provider and the mobile operator. As a significant step toward the goal of a full convergent billing system, the solution manages content charging and payments, real-time content rating, mobile commerce, third-party settlement and usage mediation for pre- and post-paid content services.
HP upgraded its fraud management solution to protect operators from the new and more dynamic fraud schemes that are emerging with next-generation voice and data services. As a part of HP's broader Revenue Assurance portfolio, the HP FMS enables operators to offer higher risk services without risking profitability. It also reduces the internal costs of fraud management.
HP and Ericsson deliver unified communications solution
Ericsson and HP jointly announced an agreement to deliver a convergent communications solution for enterprises. The communications platform integrates traditional analog voice systems and new IP-based systems for data and voice, handles both on-premise and mobile traffic, and links the private company network with the public operator network. Enterprises can increase employee satisfaction and productivity, reduce costs and create a foundation for new IP-based communications services.
HP mobility support services help companies manage WLANs
HP announced new mobility support services for public wireless LANs (PwLANs) and private wLANs. They are targeted at companies that are aggressively pursuing wireless technology to enhance employee productivity. The new services consist of five offerings to help companies design, build, manage, own or maintain their wireless LAN environments: PwLAN end-user technical support; mobility application IT help desk; remote monitoring and performance reporting; mobility end-user help desk; and mobility device management.

HP to demonstrate solutions at 3GSM event in Cannes, France
