New HP Developer Kit Helps Meet Growing Need for Printing from Pocket PC Applications LOS ANGELES, Microsoft Developers Forum, Oct. 29, 2003 HP (NYSE:HPQ) is announcing the latest version of the HP Mobile Printing Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for Pocket PC. The kit brings new print functionality to existing applications and helps enable printing on new Pocket PC 2003 devices. The HP Mobile Printing SDK version 3.0 helps developers enable mobile professionals to print documents from Pocket PC devices to network, Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity), infrared and Bluetooth™ enabled printers. Mobile application developers should be able to use the kit to address growing market needs for increased mobile capabilities. "Our goal is to help ensure that users of mobile devices such as HP iPAQ Pocket PCs have access to a broad range of printing capabilities," said Gregg Patterson, vice president of solutions and technology, Consumer Imaging and Printing Business, HP. Version 3.0 of the HP Mobile Printing SDK for Pocket PC is available for developing managed applications that target the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework on a Pocket PC with Visual Studio .NET and also for developing native Windows Mobile Pocket PC C++ based applications with embedded Visual Tools. This latest version of the Mobile Printing solution also supports more printers with expanded Adobe® PostScript® level-2 printer support that is compatible with a wide range of PostScript-enabled HP and non-HP printers. HP Mobile Printing SDK for Pocket PC delivers localized resource files for support of nine languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional as well as Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
