HP Cited as Industry Leader in Organic IT Management Forrester Report Gives High Marks to Key Elements of HP Adaptive Enterprise Strategy PALO ALTO, CALIF., JUNE 16, 2003HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced that it has been named a leader in Forrester's recently published report, "Picking an Organic IT Management Vendor." Earlier this year, the analyst firm cited HP as the leader in overall Organic IT data center development. Forrester's scoring was based on HP's server, storage and data center management technologies and solutions, including the HP OpenView Continuous Access Storage Appliance (CASA) for data replication, HP ProLiant Essentials server management software and the HP Utility Data Center (UDC). Forrester also noted that the HP UDC is enhanced by a recent agreement with software automation leader, Opsware, Inc. "HP is thrilled to be recognized by Forrester as a leader in organic IT management," said Peter Blackmore, executive vice president, HP Enterprise Systems Group. "The results of this report further validate the HP Adaptive Enterprise strategy, of which management is a fundamental piece - from services and software to servers and storage." HP's leadership extends across all areas of organic IT management, which the Forrester report divides into two classes: infrastructure specialists, vendors that focus on management of hardware and network devices; and, application-centric generalists, vendors offering intelligent architecture and sophisticated software management solutions. A wide variety of industries - from manufacturing to telecommunications - are realizing the benefits of organic IT, including virtualized resources, rapid change and larger pools of resources, according to the report. HP's enterprise customer base also reflects this trend, including recent HP managed services wins such as P&G and Ericsson. HP Adaptive Enterprise solutions provide customers with increased return on IT investment, greater resource optimization and utilization rates, and IT that adapts in real time for maximum business agility. In separate announcements today, HP further defined the evolutionary path for businesses demanding an intelligently managed adaptive enterprise and introduced more than 30 new and enhanced HP OpenView products, solutions and services. Further, HP introduced enhanced integration capabilities, demonstrating the company's successful work with and through customers and partners to help end-users achieve their goals for achieving an adaptive enterprise.
