HP Further Expands Network of Commercial Software Developers for HP-UX on Itanium-based Systems PALO ALTO, CALIF., MAY 19, 2003Supporting today's launch of the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system for the Intel® Itanium® processor family, HP (NYSE:HPQ) has announced that 25 independent software vendors (ISVs) have joined industry leaders BEA, Oracle and SAS in committing to move their commercial applications to HP's Itanium 2-based server platform running HP-UX 11i v2. The commitment of 25 new ISVs to the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system on Itanium further enables customers to capitalize on the benefits of the HP Adaptive Enterprise strategy, allowing them to demand more agility, more accountability and a greater return on their information technology investments. "Today's announcement demonstrates that interest surrounding Itanium is ramping up," said John Enck, vice president and research director, Gartner. "The growing number of ISVs porting to Itanium is a strong indicator of progress in the overall adoption of Itanium Processor Family technologies." The software applications provided by these ISVs cover a broad range of market segments, including application development, business intelligence, databases, enterprise application integration tools, enterprise resource planning and supply chain, financial services, security, telecommunications and Web services. Newly committed commercial application vendors include 724 Solutions, Active State, Ascential, atg, Baan, Borland Software Corporation, Brooks Automation, Check Point Software Technologies, Compuware, Convergys, Critical Path, CSG Systems, Hyperion, i2 Technologies, i-flex, Informatica, Intec, Lawson, LegacyJ, Portal Software, Quest Software, Schlumberger, Trema and Wily Technology. These companies join previously announced infrastructure ISVs including Acucorp, Computer Associates, IONA, Mainsoft, Micro Focus, Rogue Wave, SeeBeyond, Sybase, TIBCO, webMethods and Zeus. In addition to this broadly extended portfolio of ISV applications, the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system provides customers with a proven enterprise-ready operating environment on Itanium-based systems and enhanced reliability, availability and serviceability.
