HP Delivers New High-performance Notebook Series Optimized for Wireless Connectivity Buyers of Select Models Can Get 2,000 Free Minutes of T-Mobile HotSpot High-speed Wireless Internet Access PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 8, 2003HP (NYSE:HPQ) today introduced two new powerful, wireless-ready notebook PCs -- the Compaq Presario 2100 and 2500 series. Both offer a striking design and high performance geared to the mobile user at a great value without compromising on features. In keeping with HP's goal of making wireless Internet access easy, customers who purchase select models of the Compaq Presario Notebook 2500 series are eligible to receive 2,000 free minutes of T-Mobile® HotSpotSM high-speed wireless Internet service. "Our new notebooks PCs are about giving customers a great wireless experience," said Kevin Frost, vice president of worldwide notebook marketing, HP Personal Systems Group. "We integrated WiFi technology into notebooks and partnered with T-Mobile to help mobile users -- from small office professionals to students -- experience an extraordinary wireless experience." T-Mobile HotSpot, the largest WiFi network in the United States, offers high-speed wireless Internet access in more than 2,000 locations, including airports, airline clubs, Starbucks coffeehouses and, in 2003, Borders bookstores. T-Mobile's HotSpot service was officially launched in Starbucks coffeehouses by HP, T-Mobile and Starbucks last August. Backed by T-1 connections, customers can check e-mail, surf the Web, watch streaming video or download multimedia presentations while enjoying their favorite coffee beverage in the comfort of participating Starbucks locations and other T-Mobile locations via a fast, reliable standards-based wireless Internet connection. This offer from HP and T-Mobile is available until June 30, 2003. Customers have 30 days from sign-up to use the 2,000 free minutes with purchase of one of the new Compaq Presario Notebook 2500 series. Compaq Presario Notebook 2100 Series The Compaq Presario Notebook 2100 series offers advantages customers need for work, school or home use with a high level of performance for productivity or digital entertainment use. Sporting a sleek design in two-tone graphite and silver, the Compaq Presario 2100 is an attractive and mobile notebook at 1.5-inch thin and weighing as light as 6.7 pounds.
