Compaq Commemorates National Small Business Week With Zero Percent Leasing Offer (Advisory)

Emerging Enterprises Can Purchase Compaq's Best-in-Class Technology That Delivers the Power of an IT Department Without the Overhead

HOUSTON and WASHINGTON, D.C., May 3, 2002

In recognition of National Small Business Week, Compaq (NYSE: CPQ) is offering small and medium businesses zero percent leasing on all equipment through June 28, 2002 to qualified commercial customers in North America for transaction amounts of more than $499.00.

"Compaq is committed to providing emerging enterprise customers with access to quality and affordable technology solutions," said Dan Busse, director of SMB marketing for Compaq North America. "National Small Business Week state winners from across the country credit Compaq technology for helping their business to grow (see related news release: SBA Winners Credit Compaq Technology for Growth, Profitability During National Small Business). This promotion will help ensure more small businesses are successful in accessing the technology resources they need to better run their business and better serve their customers."

Compaq CarePaq Services

To help protect small businesses from disasters, Compaq provides its portfolio of CarePaq Services designed to offer SMB customers full support to run and protect their business from downtime. These services, as well as hardware products, can be purchased through Compaq's zero percent leasing program.

"Compaq's CarePaq services are tailored to offer full protection for our customer's technology investment. It offers peace-of-mind by providing a consistent and predictable level of service across an entire department or business," said Busse. "These services go far beyond the standard warranty, providing Compaq's customers with access to some of the best technical and problem-solving expertise available, whenever and wherever they do business—across the country or around the world."
