Compaq First to Break 2 Million Seat Mark for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Deployment

Compaq Brings Services, Servers and Storage to Deliver Complete Exchange Solutions

HOUSTON, April 23, 2002

Compaq Global Services, the $7.8 billion services division of Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ), today announced it has surpassed the two million mark in Exchange 2000 seats deployed or under contract—the first Microsoft solutions integrator to accomplish this milestone.

Recognized by Microsoft as Worldwide Prime Integrator for Exchange, Compaq Global Services has deployed or managed a total of more than 8 million Exchange seats since the introduction of Microsoft Exchange Server—making Compaq the largest Exchange integrator in the industry. Microsoft Exchange Server delivers next-generation messaging and collaboration for businesses of all sizes.

Compaq recently helped the City of Calgary improve productivity with a new messaging environment. "The initial plan was to provide a high-availability messaging environment, since e-mail is as critical to this municipality as the phone," said Alexander Sidaway, project manager Corporate Email/Calendaring, City of Calgary. "Compaq Global Services, in cooperation with the City of Calgary, completed the planning, design and implementation of Exchange 2000, including a proof of concept and pilot."

To enhance customers' flexibility in implementing Exchange, Compaq recently announced a new IT utility (Exchange "on Demand"), which is available on a fixed-fee, per-mailbox basis—the number of mailboxes can be increased or decreased as business conditions warrant. Exchange "on demand" delivery options include: installation, setup and management; server installation; account administration; performance monitoring; backup and recovery; virus and security protection; and monthly usage reporting.

In addition, industry standard Compaq ProLiant servers and adaptive infrastructure offer customers a reliable and scalable Microsoft Exchange 2000 infrastructure platform—optimized and tested for Microsoft operating systems and applications. Compaq also offers unique features such as recommended configurations and sizers via ActiveAnswers.
