Worldwide Switch Market Share Report Reveals Industry-leading Growth at HP

Dell'Oro Report Shows HP ProCurve Networking Outpacing Market and Competitor Growth

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 18, 2002

HP (NYSE:HPQ) is the fastest growing Ethernet switch vendor for Q3 2002, according to research results from the Dell'Oro Group.(1)

The report, which examines the Ethernet switch market, reveals that the HP ProCurve networking business grew at a rate of 49 percent in terms of total layer 2 through layer 7 port shipments, outpacing competitors Cisco and 3Com as well as the market itself from Q3 2001 to Q3 2002. The Ethernet switch market as a whole grew 29 percent. The report also said that from Q2 2002 to Q3 2002, HP ProCurve Networking grew at 17 percent, nearly twice the overall switch market rate.

HP ProCurve grew 179 percent from Q2 2002 to Q3 2002 in total layer 3 modular ports shipped, moving from 4 percent to 11.6 percent market share.
