HP Unveils Redesigned Web Site

HP.com Extends Customer-centric Focus to the Online Experience

PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 5, 2002

HP (NYSE:HPQ) today unveiled its redesigned Web site, http://www.hp.com, featuring a simpler graphic layout and customer-specific sections that take users to information about relevant HP products and services with fewer clicks. In addition, HP.com now delivers dynamic content via rolling "billboards" for each audience segment, providing quick access to customized information, events and promotions relevant to every type of user.

The new design is based on global customer research and Web analytics to help users do what they want to do efficiently and effectively. The site debuts today in the United States and migrates to other countries throughout the first half of 2003.

"HP.com is the global window into everything about the company, so not only have we redesigned the Web site, we're giving our customers something extra -- a more positive, rewarding and efficient experience with HP online, every time," said Marius Haas, worldwide vice president of eBusiness at HP. "Whether customers want access to HP's total portfolio of business and consumer products and services or the latest software drivers, technical support or corporate news, HP.com is the single Web site people can count on."

HP.com is a key component of HP's eBusiness offerings, hosting more than 4 million unique visitors on the Web each week and serving as a key point of entry to the company and its products and services.

The site now features:

  • An optimized homepage design geared to quickly serve up more relevant, meaningful content to different audience segments. Information is grouped by customer orientation, with quick glimpses into the newest HP products and solutions for each category. Each audience segment will receive a revolving strategic message, customized offers and streamlined access to key product lines, support, partners and buying information;
  • New customer-focused dynamic content via rolling billboards, organized by customer segment. "Mousing" over each category results in a rollover to the billboard for that customer segment, presenting special offers, events, promotions, how-to papers and regional news;
  • An improved consumer support site offering straightforward, consumer-friendly content, as well as more intuitive navigation for faster, easier troubleshooting;
  • Information on more than 10,000 products, accessories and services consolidated from pre-merger HP and Compaq offerings, with two clear links for quick access to purchasing and technical support options; and
  • The integration of hpshopping.com and Compaq At-Home, the company's two online consumer stores, providing customers with one all-inclusive site to purchase both HP and Compaq consumer products. HPshopping.com offers award-winning customer service, fast FedEx delivery and a complete selection of HP home and home office products.
  • More information on HP's Web site is available at http://www.hp.com.
