BEA Systems and HP Team to Deliver Integrated Solutions to the Enterprise Companies To Jointly Market BEA's Application Infrastructure Software Across All HP Hardware Platforms PARIS, BEA eWorld Europe 2002 and PALO ALTO, Calif. -- June 24, 2002 Building on the strength of their existing relationship, BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS), the world's leading global application infrastructure software company, and HP (NYSE: HPQ), a leading global provider of products, technologies, solutions and services to consumers and businesses, today announced that the two companies are expanding their efforts to jointly market, sell and deliver integrated solutions, including hardware, software and services, across all HP operating systems. The systems include HP-UX, OpenVMS, NonStop Kernel (NSK) and Tru64 Unix on current standard platforms and future Itanium platforms, as well as Windows 2000, Windows NT and Linux. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies have named each other as preferred strategic partners. BEA and HP will jointly identify and deliver J2EE e-business solutions using BEA's application infrastructure solutions for joint enterprise customers. HP will become a preferred strategic systems integration partner of BEA with a dedicated team of BEA-certified consultants and HP-UX will become BEA's first enterprise-class UNIX operating environment supported on the Itanium processor family. The expanded relationship will further HP's enterprise integration offerings, helping enable customers to deploy seamless business process applications to maximize existing infrastructures and create high returns on investment. Additionally, HP is evaluating the BEA WebLogic JRockit Java Virtual Machine (JVM), with the potential to standardize on JRockit across HP's enterprise servers for all operating systems and server lines for the Intel architecture.
