HP Introduces Business Continuity Solution for Billing

HP Works with Amdocs to Address Critical Need of Availability and Disaster Tolerance for Communication Service Providers

BALTIMORE, Billing World, June 18, 2002

HP (NYSE:HPQ) today introduced a solution for the billing environments of communication service providers that addresses critical business continuity requirements. The offering delivers a powerful combination of high-availability and disaster tolerance assurance and allows service providers to comprehensively evaluate, monitor and manage critical business continuity functions in a billing environment in a cost-effective manner.

In coordination with Amdocs (NYSE:DOX), the world's leading provider of billing and CRM to the communications industry, the solution features a pre-tested infrastructure for Amdocs' billing and customer care environment. As a complete hardware and software offering combined with Amdocs IT professional services expertise, the solution gives providers the benefit of flexibility by providing multiple options for reducing implementation risks and containing costs.

In addition, the solution includes a highly adaptable reference architecture and roadmap with the latest technologies for disaster tolerance, replication and monitoring to assure the continuity of business and minimize the impact of a catastrophic event.

"Solution collaboration minimizes risk and optimizes revenue assurance to service providers since even a few minutes of billing and customer care downtime can mean significant revenue loss and decreased customer confidence," said Marco Limena, vice president, HP Network and Service Provider Solutions. "By combining the core expertise of two market leaders, we are streamlining the complexities of disaster tolerance and high availability in a tested, comprehensive infrastructure offering."

For nearly a decade, HP and Amdocs have worked together to help customers align leading-edge technology with business requirements. The companies' understanding of the unique requirements for availability and disaster tolerance has resulted in an integrated, pre-tested solution that allows service providers to customize and choose components that meet their specific business needs. At the same time, the offering's flexible architecture helps providers ensure continuous service delivery with minimal impact to critical billing operations.

"Amdocs believes that customers today need to proactively plan for business continuity in the billing and customer care environment," said Mike Couture, vice president of marketing, Amdocs. "Amdocs is pleased to leverage HP 's experience in business continuity solutions. Working together, we help customers maintain continuous operations and mitigate risks associated with outages, enabling better service to end-users."
