HP Shareowners of Record as of March 18, 2002, Eligible to Vote at 2002 Annual Meeting of Shareowners

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 6, 2002


Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) announced today that it has established a record date for its 2002 annual meeting of shareowners. HP shareowners of record at the close of business on Monday, March 18, 2002, will be entitled to notice of the annual meeting and to vote upon matters considered at the meeting.

HP will send to shareowners of record a definitive proxy statement, which will contain important information about the matters to be considered at the meeting. Shareowners are urged to read the proxy statement when it becomes available. The proxy statement also will include the date, time and location of the annual meeting, as well as a description of the items of business.
