Ericsson Expands Services Relationship with Compaq in Sweden

HOUSTON Dec. 20, 2001

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced that global telecommunications leader Ericsson has expanded its existing contract with Compaq through an extended service agreement in Sweden. For the next five years, Compaq will manage Ericsson's existing IT resources and provide additional Compaq Computing on Demand services at an increased number of Ericsson sites in Sweden. The extension is worth a total of US $200 million. Computing on Demand combines Compaq's strengths in technology-servers, storage, wireless handheld devices, and PCs-with Compaq Global Services architecture, management, and support capabilities, giving enterprise customers increased flexibility and control over the design, management, and cost of their IT infrastructure.

Compaq will take responsibility for a significant part of Ericsson's IT infrastructure including asset management of hardware, services, operations and support of PC workstations and printers at Ericsson sites in Sweden, including the company headquarters. The contract also includes associated financial services provided by Compaq Financial Services, a Compaq subsidiary. "More and more global companies such as Ericsson are taking advantage of Compaq's strength and broad leadership in complete IT management," said Peter Blackmore, executive vice president, Sales and Services, Compaq Computer Corporation. "Compaq's Computing on Demand solutions offer just the right blend of hardware and services to provide customers the flexibility and cost efficiency so essential in today's economy, and more importantly, the ability to focus on their core business."
