Americans Can E-mail Video Messages of Thanks to Military Personnel Deployed in Harm's Way
NEW YORK, December 3, 2001
New York City firefighters and police became the first to record and send digital video e-mail messages of support and thanks to military personnel deployed in harm's way, thanks to a high-tech initiative called Give Thanks America. Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) is providing a way for Americans to send streaming digital video recorded messages via simple e-mail to military personnel around the world. The Department of Defense is providing logistics and communications support. The initiative was launched simultaneously in New York and two sites in Washington, D.C.—The Pentagon and the VFW Memorial Building—and will run for three days.
