Compaq and Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Unveil Technology Discounts to Small Business Owners

LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2001

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed to deliver technology at discounted prices to meet the diverse needs and budgets of small and growing businesses in the greater Los Angeles area. Chamber members are now able to take advantage of huge savings on Compaq products and solutions, in addition to ever-changing weekly specials, by ordering online.

"This demonstrates our commitment to providing our members with access to quality and affordable technology solutions," said Russell J. "Rusty" Hammer, newly-appointed president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. As Hammer steps into his new role as president this week, he looks to ensure members cost-efficient access to state-of-the-art technology. By working cooperatively with Compaq, members of the Los Angeles Area Chamber will be introduced to a wealth of new office solutions, from PCs to servers and CarePaq services, to Internet business solutions.

"Compaq is here to deliver growing businesses what they need to succeed, and our relationship with the Chamber serves as another way that we can add value for small and medium business owners in the Los Angeles area," said Leigh Morrison, regional vice president for Compaq and a board member of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce since 1999.

According to the Chamber, small businesses account for 99 percent of all businesses that pay taxes in Los Angeles County, and they employ more than 70 percent of the county's four million payroll workers. The Chamber looks to ensure that small business owners who wish to start or grow their business have the education resources necessary to assist in their IT decisions.

By ordering online at www.lachamber.org/memberadvantage, Chamber members can receive discounts of up to 10 percent on technology and products. Additionally, business owners can also receive technical training on Compaq branded products at the Compaq Learning Center, located at the Chamber.

Entrepreneurs are also able to take advantage of Compaq's weekly "Business Tuesday" specials on select Compaq products. And, until the end of the year, customers who purchase select Compaq ProLiant servers will receive free hardware installation. Aggressive pricing can save customers hundreds of dollars on some complete solutions and breakthrough value on Compaq branded products. More information is available online at www.compaq.com/bt or www.compaq.com/installme.
