Small Business Promotion Offers Free Compaq iPAQ 3650 Pocket PC With Select Notebook, Desktop Purchase

HOUSTON, October 30, 2001

Today, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) announces its first discounted desktop PC and notebook offering for small and medium-size businesses that includes a free Compaq iPAQ 3650 Pocket PC when purchased direct from Compaq on 1-800-888-2212 and free shipping when ordered online at www.compaq.com/bt. The special promotion is also available with Compaq's innovative 4-for-Free leasing program, allowing payments to be delayed until March 2002.

"Compaq offers cost-efficient access to state-of-the art technology," said Edgar Mejia, executive director for the Latin Business Association (LBA) - a nonprofit professional association dedicated to the success of Hispanic businesses worldwide. The LBA is the largest Latin business association in California.
