HOUSTON, August 13, 2001

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced the worldwide availability of two new flat panel monitors, the Compaq TFT5015 and the Compaq TFT5030.

Value priced at $499(1), the Compaq TFT5015 monitor is a 15-inch flat panel display ideal for home and small/mainstream office users. With uncompromising display features, the Compaq TFT5015 monitor includes crystal-clear native XGA resolution, up to 200-nit brightness, and best total cost of ownership in a monitor. It also contains an integrated power supply, ergonomic design, small footprint, and virtually the same size viewable screen as a standard 17-inch CRT (Cathode-Ray Tube) monitor.

The Compaq TFT5030 monitor, ideal for financial, healthcare, and mainstream business users, offers many important features and benefits that make it the best flat panel display in its class. Some of these features include: crystal-clear .30 mm pitch, brightness up to 300-nits, 170-degree viewing angles, and both digital and analog compatibility. Sharp Microelectronics' built-in ASV (Advanced Super View) technology also ensures zero pixel defects and includes Pixelworks' PW112 ImageProcessor IC, interface electronics, and inverter to drive the backlight directly onto the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) module.

Both monitors have a sleek, two-tone silver and carbon casing providing an ideal design match for the entire line of new Compaq Evo™ hardware products as well as all current and legacy products.
