Compaq Presario Desktops Offer Superior Performance for Home and Office Computing (Advisory)

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced the availability of the new AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz and Duron 950 MHz processors on the Presario 7000Z and 5000Z series Internet PCs, respectively.
Available through Compaq's "Built for You" program, the Presario 7000Z series offers the fastest Athlon processor available--the AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz processor, which combines with Double Data Rate (DDR) memory technology to provide customers with the ultimate combination for extreme gaming, digital video editing and sophisticated graphics applications. For video enthusiasts, the Presario 7000Z will be available with the popular MyMovieSTUDIO solution, which allows customers to record and edit professional-looking home movies with recordable DVD-R technology.
The Presario 5000Z series will offer the AMD Duron 950 MHz processor, which provides best-in-class value with incredible performance for work or play.
Starting at $1277, the Presario 7000Z basic configuration includes 20 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, 128 MB DDR memory, 48X CD-ROM drive and a CV735 17-inch monitor. The Presario 5000Z starts at prices as low as $779 and includes 20GB hard drive, 64MB memory, 48X CD-ROM drive, and a CV535 15-inch monitor.
