Compaq Bridges Customers' DAS to SAN Storage Backup Solutions (Advisory)

HOUSTON, June 5, 2001

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced the availability of the Smart Array SAN Access Module, the industry's first true integrated bridge from Direct Attached Storage (DAS) to fibre-channel Storage Area Networks (SAN). For more details, please visit Compaq's Web site at http://www.compaq.com/smartarray.

Storage Management Made Simple

Compaq is delivering customers more efficient ways to manage rapidly growing storage requirements and increasingly dense computing environments. The Smart Array SAN Access Module enables customers to affordably consolidate their backup of DAS to Compaq Enterprise Backup Solutions, protecting their current investment without a conversion to a full SAN environment. The Smart Array SAN Access Module is designed to operate with the modular Smart Array 5300 Controller to provide reliable data protection for Compaq ProLiant™ servers.
