Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC Gives Filmmakers a Modern Tool for Movie Previews HOUSTON, May 17, 2001 What does the iPAQ Pocket PC have in common with the world-famous Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood? Both are sites for the premieres of some of the world's most promising blockbuster movies. Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced that its iPAQ Pocket PC is being used by InternetStudios, the premier full-service Web site for licensing film and television distribution rights, and tracking and distribution of entertainment industry data via the Internet. InternetStudios will use the iPAQ Pocket PC to help filmmakers show their latest projects to film distributors and producers at the Cannes Market in Cannes, France during the city's film festival. An integral part of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, the Cannes Market is the world's premier film trading place, where industry professionals register and conduct business over a 10-day period. A leading provider of information for the industry, the Cannes Market is run by the MIF Organization, which also oversees the International Village and MITIC, the International Exhibition of Technology. InternetStudios and Compaq will be at this year's festival demonstrating the ability to show movie trailers on the iPAQ Pocket PC while conducting business in the world's largest forum for the buying and selling of filmed entertainment rights. The software used for these demonstrations is Microsoft®Windows Media Player. "We are pleased that InternetStudios chose the iPAQ Pocket PC H3650 to display movie clips at the Cannes Market," said Cindy Box, director of marketing, iPAQ Mobile Solutions. "As the world's most powerful PDA, the iPAQ Pocket PC is ideal for video streaming because of its outstanding, award-winning color display that can be seen in any light. This is a great way to showcase the versatility of the iPAQ Pocket PC." The Cannes Market (May 9-19, 2001) is the biggest market in the film industry calendar. Two years ago the Cannes Market launched its year-round online service, cannesmarket.com, which has two primary applicationsone that supports the market itself leading up to and during the 10-day event, and one that provides a comprehensive database and service for film professionals throughout the year. The information posted on cannesmarket.com is essential for both Cannes Market veterans and for the thousands of new registrants that come to Cannes for the first time. There are general details about contacts in Cannes, hotels and restaurants, as well as business information such as a complete guide to registration, location of the buyers and sellers, screening schedules, theaters, and the program of the Cannes Conference Series. Access to the site is free until May 20th for every registrant. "InternetStudios is especially excited to be associated with the iPAQ Pocket PC since the quality and size of the video image is superior for presenting full-length motion picture trailers," said Heidi Lester, chief executive officer of InternetStudios. InternetStudios.com is positioned as the premier full-service Web site for licensing film and television distribution rights and tracking and distribution of entertainment industry data via the Internet. The company operates OnlineFilmandTVSales, a digital marketplace for sales of film and television rights, and ReporterTV, which delivers daily online entertainment industry newscasts.
