Compaq and RLX Technologies Settle Legal Dispute

HOUSTON, April 16, 2001

Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ) and RLX Technologies Inc. today announced that they have resolved all legal issues regarding the suit Compaq filed against RLX in Harris County, Texas, in February 2001 alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, propriety information and unfair competition. As a result of the two companies agreeing to settle out of court, the case has been dismissed by the Harris County Court.

The terms of the settlement agreement between the companies are confidential and will not be disclosed.
