iPAQ Pocket PC Wins "Product of the Year" at the 2001 Mobility Awards (Advisory)
HOUSTON, February 23, 2001
Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced that the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC was named "Product of the Year" at the seventh annual Mobility Awards event held in Phoenix earlier this week. In addition, the iPAQ Pocket PC won the award for Pocket PC/Palm-Sized PCs, the Compaq MP2800 Microportable Projector won the award for Personal Projectors, and the Compaq Biometrics PC Card won the category for Physical/Data Security.
The Mobility Awards are sponsored by Mobile Insights, the leading information source for the mobile computing and data communications markets. More than 30 editors, journalists, and analysts from the mobile computing and data communications industries voted online through a confidential ballot. Twenty-seven categories of mobile computing hardware and software were on the ballot, representing over 150 products.
The iPAQ Pocket PC's triumph was just the latest in a long series of honors. Other awards include a five-star rating from PC Magazine; one of the year 2000's "hottest products" from Popular Science magazine; a "Tech Trendsetter Award" from ZDNet; the best gadget for 2000 from CNET; and an Editor's Choice designation from Pocket PC Magazine.
