Compaq Introduces New Aggressively PricedFlat-PanelDisplay (Advisory)

HOUSTON, January 31, 2001

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced immediate availability of a new flat-panel display, the TFT 7010. Starting at $1499 (1), this monitor offers business customers the benefits of flat-panel technology such as flicker-free quality, lack of distortion, and small footprint, at an extremely aggressive price.

The TFT 7010 is remarkably easy to set up and maintain. One-touch buttons on the front of the unit, and virtual controls on the screen allow for visual attributes to be stored to memory so settings apply each time the unit is turned on. This - combined with extras such as a swing arm or wall mounting, an optional USB hub, and Compaq's award-winning standard three-year warranty - creates the perfect marriage of form and function in a highly affordable, high-performance flat-panel display.

The TFT 7010 monitor presents a crystal-clear 17" viewable screen image, SXGA (1280 X 1024) resolution with .26mm pitch, and 200-nit brightness. This display presents impressive 160-degree viewing angles for easy visibility from any perspective.

The TFT 7010 monitor is digital and analog compatible for the ultimate in backward compatibility with legacy hardware and forward compatibility with emerging digital technology. The unit offers maximum flexibility, compatibility, and productivity via dual inputs that allow an analog and digital source to be connected to the unit simultaneously.

Additional information on the new TFT 7010 can be found at http://www.compaq.com/products/monitors/flatpanel/tft7010.html.
