Foundry Networks and HP Offer North American Service Providers Bundled Network Usage Management Solution

Solution Includes Foundry's Switches and Routers, HP Internet Usage Manager Software, HP Hardware and Integration Services from HP Consulting

San Jose, CA and Palo Alto, CA (October 1, 2001)

Foundry Networks®, Inc. (NASDAQ: FDRY), and Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP) today announced a bundled solution for network usage management and accounting for service providers and carriers. The comprehensive solution provides for non-intrusive usage data collection and includes the hardware, software, and services necessary to track and analyze network usage for increased profitability.

The bundle gives services providers a pre-integrated, high-performance network usage management solution for rapid deployment that is designed to be added to existing infrastructure without impacting network performance. Customer analysis and usage-based billing are readily supported.

"As a leader in metropolitan area networking, we are committed to forming the technology relationships to deliver the best-of-breed solutions our customers require," said Ken Cheng, vice president of marketing for Foundry Networks. "HP Internet Usage Manager software provides our customers with the scalability and functionality they need to support new business models based on real-time accounting and billing."

Foundry and HP worked closely to ensure that the Foundry hardware and HP IUM software interfaces operate seamlessly and also to verify performance when loaded by tens of thousands of flows per second.

"Foundry provides the speed and functionality needed to enable world class usage-based billing services," said Vikash Varma, general manager, HP IUM. "We are pleased to work with Foundry to build next-generation networks for service providers and carriers throughout the world."

The bundled offering will be available in North America through a 120-day program and includes HP IUM mediation software, Foundry's Velocity Management I (VM1) module for the BigIron® Layer 3 switches or Foundry's Network Processing Architecture (NPA) interface modules for the NetIron Internet Routers, selected HP servers, and deployment services from HP Consulting. In addition, an introductory license for the new HP Dynamic Netvalue Analyzer solution for real-time business intelligence is included. The bundle is available now through HP and Foundry's direct sales forces.
