HP Acquires Trinagy, Inc. to Expand HP OpenView e-Services Management Software

PALO ALTO and TORRANCE, Calif., Aug. 9, 2001

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) and Trinagy, Inc. today announced the companies have signed a definitive agreement under which HP will acquire Trinagy, a privately held supplier of advanced network performance management software for enterprise and service provider customers.

Trinagy's software will augment the HP OpenView e-services management software portfolio and further its position as one of the industry's most comprehensive offerings.

With these solutions, customers can maximize the performance and availability of business-critical applications and services delivered over the network. This includes the ability to:

  • quickly identify network performance problems;
  • automatically analyze and predict performance issues before they affect services;
  • accurately project and allocate appropriate levels of network capacity needed to develop new services that drive new revenues; and
  • deliver customized reports for in-depth network analysis.
The Trinagy business will be integrated into the HP OpenView Business Unit. The acquisition is part of HP's ongoing strategy to enhance its powerful software portfolio to help customers adapt quickly to change, manage complexity and transform their businesses for success.

Trinagy's solutions complement the HP OpenView portfolio by being modular, highly scalable and built on open architectures. In addition, Trinagy has a strong presence in the service provider market, in which HP OpenView solutions already manage the top 10 U.S. service providers.

"Today companies must do more than simply monitor their ever-expanding networks -- they must turn their networks into a primary competitive advantage," said Patty Azzarello, vice president and general manager, HP OpenView Business Unit. "With the addition of Trinagy solutions to the HP OpenView suite, customers can better characterize the performance of their networks. This is essential to managing successful e-services and providing an optimal customer experience."

"Winning software companies know that merely managing technology and providing point solutions are yesterday's strategies," said David Woodall, chief executive officer, Trinagy. "Service providers and enterprises have been demanding the integration of fault and performance management because they recognize that both uptime and performance drive their business success. The integration of Trinagy capabilities with the HP OpenView portfolio gives customers a network management solution that leapfrogs our competition."

HP is the leading provider of e-services management solutions with its HP OpenView portfolio of management software and services. These solutions drive breakthroughs in business performance by enabling service providers, enterprises and Internet businesses to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations for service performance. HP OpenView solutions are at work in more than 135,000 multivendor customer environments worldwide. Together with offerings from more than 200 HP OpenView partners, HP offers a comprehensive portfolio of network, Internet, systems, storage, application and service management solutions.
