HP e-Solutions Center Receives Highest Assessment for Software from SEI

Level 5 Assessment Reaffirms that HP Provides Low-risk, High-quality Software Productsand Services

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 7, 2001

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) today announced that its second e-Solutions center in India received the highest-level assessment for software from the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). This is the second of the two e-Solutions centers in Bangalore to receive this recognition. The Level 5 assessment on the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) from SEI is a result of the high levels of resource and code optimization and development performed by HP software engineers.

The SEI ratings, developed by Carnegie Mellon University, help customers determine which software suppliers are reliable and low risk. SEI CMM Level 5 is a highly respected mark of a company's commitment to quality for on-time and on-budget performance.

"Our customers demand software solutions that are developed using the highest levels of quality," said Ron Eckhardt, general manager, HP e-Solutions Division. "Receiving an SEI CMM Level 5 assessment demonstrates to customers HP's ability to deliver effective, timely and reliable software products and services."

HP software engineering solutions include application integration, porting and migration, project management and custom solution development.
