HP Names Ken Larson California Public Affairs Manager

ROSEVILLE, Calif., Dec. 13, 2000


Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP) today announced that Ken Larson has been named public affairs manager for the state of California. Based at HP's Roseville site, Larson is responsible for directing the company's public affairs activities throughout the state.

Larson most recently served as public affairs manager for HP's greater Sacramento area. Larson joined HP in Cupertino in 1980 and held a variety of roles in human resources, including education, staffing and employee relations. He transferred to Roseville in 1984 when he became the staffing manager for the HP Roseville site.

Larson has been active in the community as a member of numerous non-profit organizations, including his current roles on the board of directors of the Greater Sacramento Urban League, California Capitol Region United Way, Placer Leadership Council of United Way, and LEED (Linking Education and Economic Development). Other community involvement has included work with the Volunteer Center of Placer County, Placer Mediation Services, Placer County Community Services Commission, and Capital Center MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) program. He also led HP's recruiting activities at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, for 18 years.

Larson and his wife Marie, a professor at Sacramento City College, live in Granite Bay. They have two grown daughters.

Larson has a Master's of Public Administration from UCLA and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Affairs from Occidental College. He completed a year of graduate study in social welfare at the University of Stockholm, Sweden.

In the greater Sacramento area, including the cities of Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln, HP employs more than 6,000 people. At its 500-acre Roseville site, established in 1979, employees invent, manufacture, market and sell a variety of the company's computer products as well as provide after-sales support to HP customers. HP contributes over $2.5 million annually to local schools and community organizations in equipment, cash donations, university grants and its annual gift to the United Way.
