APOLLO Consumer Products Announces Key Management Promotions SAN DIEGO, Oct. 4, 2000 APOLLO Consumer Products, a leading worldwide producer of sub-$100 color inkjet printers and wholly owned Hewlett-Packard Company ( HP ) subsidiary, today announced key leadership promotions within the company. Harminder Dhani accepted a promotion as APOLLO's new general manager and will be responsible for providing strategic direction and managing the company's worldwide operations. He replaces Mohan Garde, who recently became a vice president of the consumer business organization for HP. Dhani has served on APOLLO's executive management team since joining the company in 1998 as director of manufacturing and supply chain. Ed McCarthy will assume Dhani's previous manufacturing responsibilities while continuing to manage APOLLO's marketing activities in a newly created position, director of operations. "After working closely with Mohan to launch and build the APOLLO brand, I am confident we can further advance his vision to lead the sub-$100 color inkjet printer market," Dhani said. "Mohan's efforts created many breakthroughs that helped APOLLO ship one million printers in our first 16 months and I look forward to leading the company toward similar milestones." Dhani has extensive experience in product generation, strategic planning, supply chain management and international business relations. He has more than 10 years experience in several manufacturing and materials management positions at HP. His career also includes a management position at General Motors and serving as part owner for a start-up company. Dhani holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. McCarthy, APOLLO's new director of operations, has worked at HP for the majority of his 12-year career. At HP, McCarthy held various management positions in marketing, sales development and finance in both the inkjet and laser printer businesses. McCarthy's successful APOLLO tenure has included broadening the company's worldwide sales channels - highlighted by distribution agreements with food and drugstores Rite Aid and Albertson's. McCarthy earned an MBA from University of California at Riverside and graduated with honors from University of California at Davis with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences. "APOLLO has always been a highly efficient operation and as a result has rapidly gained competitive advantages in the marketplace," Dhani said. "Ed has consistently proven himself as an effective and motivational leader at APOLLO and we know he will deftly juggle the responsibilities of managing both our manufacturing and marketing efforts."
