HP Halo
by Susan Twombly, Sept. 2009

  • Do you want a single source for video collaboration?
  • Do you want more flexibility to build the right solution for your business?
  • Do you want more ways to leverage your existing investments?

If you answered “Yes!” to any question above, you may already know that telepresence and video conferencing solutions can be great communication alternatives to face-to-face business meetings.

However, you may also know that bringing together all the components and suppliers necessary to help ensure reliable, seamless and simple video communications on a global basis can be challenging, costly and time consuming, especially for today’s overburdened IT staff.

That’s why you need HP as your one-stop video collaboration solution. With HP, you can have direct access to one of the industry’s most complete video offerings and services, with expanded new flexible options. You can also have the peace of mind that comes with single source accountability.

One source for many choices

We’ve recently aligned our HP Halo business with our HP ProCurve Networking business. Under HP ProCurve and in conjunction with HP Technology Services, we are able to integrate all the components of successful video collaboration into a one-stop solution – from networking and endpoints to managed services.

Choose your endpoints

Now, you can choose from one of the most robust video collaboration portfolios available, including a range of endpoints that suit specific needs around locations, people and projects.

There are a wide variety of HP Halo Telepresence Solutions endpoints, including the HP Halo Collaboration Studio, a complete broadcast studio optimized with lighting, sound and video to deliver the ultimate, immersive communications experience. Other HP Halo telepresence endpoints include the HP Halo Collaboration Meeting Room and the HP Halo Collaboration Center. Both can be placed in existing conference room settings. All HP Halo telepresence endpoints come with HP Halo’s award-winning graphical user interface that makes company-to-company connections a snap.

Additionally, through HP’s alliance with TANDBERG, you can also choose from a variety of interoperable video conferencing environments, from meeting room endpoints to desktop solutions.

Choose your networks

Select the network infrastructure that best suits your needs. For instance, you may opt to place lower bandwidth endpoints on your existing enterprise network and higher bandwidth endpoints on HP’s fully managed HP Halo Video Exchange Network (HVEN) – one of the only global fiber optic network designed specifically for video collaboration.

Or, you could opt for more of a hybrid approach, utilizing your enterprise network and the HVEN. With more than 40 years of networking experience – spanning voice/messaging communications and leading-edge video collaboration solutions – HP can help ensure that you have the right network infrastructure in place to assist you in realizing the full potential of your video assets.

Choose your services to ease IT demands

From day one, providing industry-leading managed services has always been a part of HP Halo’s DNA. With HP Halo Managed Services, you can increase business efficiency and cost control, without increasing IT headaches. To improve and simplify the video collaboration experience for IT and users alike, HP manages all the day-to-day operations of your virtual meeting environments. All HP Halo endpoints automatically include these service capabilities. And, if you house TANDBERG endpoints on HP’s HVEN, many of these services are also available to you.

By combining these comprehensive managed services with the HVEN, you can leverage a highly available and scalable collaboration solution with a predictable cost structure, plus 24/7 helpdesk or concierge services.1 You can also take advantage of exceptional security with AES-256 bit encryption, monitoring, unlimited bandwidth and many other benefits. Further, you won’t have to worry about making network upgrades as you add new endpoints within your organization.

If you want HP to manage video on your enterprise network, HP also offers a host of offerings through HP’s Network Lifecycle Services. As part of this service, we can evaluate your infrastructure and provide consulting services on network architecture, video products, integration and deployment. We also provide proactive and reactive support services for end-to-end network environments, including hardware and software.

New ways to extend your enterprise

HP is always looking for ways to innovate and extend the value of our products to help you gain more from your investments. HP Halo Webcasting is a prime example of this, because it leverages your existing HP Halo telepresence endpoints to stream high-quality live or on-demand webcast content to attendees around the world.

As many as three presenters from three different HP Halo sites can be included in each webcast. So, multiple content experts can participate, without bringing them all to a single location. This extends the cost-savings benefits of HP Halo endpoints by eliminating the need to travel to TV studios or to book costly satellite time.

Presenters simply go to their own in-house HP Halo studios to record or participate in a live video event. Employees or external audiences in the home, the office or away can see and engage with spokespeople via their notebooks or PCs. Easy access to a customizable media portal – featuring presentation slides, surveys and live question-and-answer sessions – helps to enrich each webcast.

As an end-to-end solution, HP Halo Webcasting combines the broadcast-ready video and audio quality of HP Halo endpoints with the turnkey managed services provided by HP Media Solutions, including webcast planning and scripting, as well as video production, editing and distribution.

Make HP your collaboration destination
