Why can’t I install my webcam driver?
How do I recover my backup files?
Why won’t my printer print?
That’s just a sampling of the questions asked and answered on the HP Consumer Support Forums.
Newly redesigned for users who increasingly hop online for help, the Forums let you do more than just read about issues online – they let you reach out, connect and collaborate with a support community of fellow HP users.
Now, it’s easier and faster to raise and resolve your toughest tech issues, exchange insights and share the latest ‘how-to’ tips on getting the most out of your experience with HP products.
And, it’s free – even for products no longer covered by your warranty.
The HP Consumer Support Forums are easy to find via a direct link (see box) or by selecting “Support and Drivers” on the HP home page and clicking on the “Consumer Support Forums” button. You will also see them as an option as you surf through HP’s support website, which is full of useful information.
At first glance, you can see that the forums are designed for easy navigation. Divided into different categories or ‘boards’ – such as notebooks, desktops and printers – they’re organized based on the most popular support inquiries by HP customers.
A quick registration process is your entrée into a vast support community. Here, numbers are certainly on your side: The larger the community, the more opportunities you have to find the answers you need. In fact, just three weeks after the Forums were relaunched in November 2008, total page views numbered more than 1.5 million.
On the Forums home page, you can:
- Search by keyword or issue
- Check out the boards most interesting to you
- Start your own conversation or jump into an existing one
Red folders indicate ‘hot threads’ with 10 or more replies, while an open folder indicates new messages added into a thread. A “Solved!” icon shows which posts can give you a fast track to getting the answers you need.
Customize your experiences in the Forums to make them more meaningful and helpful to you. Bookmark boards, threads or messages so they are easy to find on your next visit. Or, sign up for RSS to be automatically notified by email when a post is added to a particular board or thread you want to follow.
You also have the option to exchange messages directly with individual users to build a personal community of peers within the Forums. Want to recognize how important a particular post or poster is to resolving your key issues? Give them a “Kudo” that appears next to the valuable answer and in the poster’s user profile.
So, the next time you’re stumped, don’t go it alone. Get online with a worldwide community of other HP users at the HP Consumer Support Forums – and put your problem-solving powers to work to help yourself and others.
