Two men walking down a covered bridge
by Susan Twombly, Nov. 2006

On November 30th, Microsoft launched a suite of new products for the enterprise: The 2007 Microsoft Office System, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and the Microsoft® Windows Vista™ operating system.

To help you realize the extensive benefits these solutions can deliver, HP is at the forefront — ready with a broad range of hardware, software and services that support the full spectrum of new Microsoft products.

As a result, you can move ahead with confidence as you transition to this next generation of Microsoft technology.

As the enabling technologies behind Microsoft's People-Ready vision for business, adopting these next-generation solutions now will also help prepare you for a series of innovative solutions that HP and Microsoft plan to bring to market over the next year.

Here's how HP is working to help you get ready and be ready for the revolutionary changes these solutions can bring. With HP, you can leverage your investments in Office, Exchange and Windows Vista™ to realize their full potential and create real business value — transforming your organization.

A reliable foundation from the start

For over two decades, HP and Microsoft have been working side-by-side to research, develop, test, implement and support solutions that help you accomplish your most demanding goals.

During the development of 2007 Microsoft Office System, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Vista™, HP engineers worked extensively with Microsoft engineers to develop, test and certify these new products on HP systems.

This means that many issues that could arise during your implementation have already been identified and resolved by HP and Microsoft engineers. As a result, you can depend on a more reliable, stable and secure environment for your new Microsoft solutions right from the start.

HP Services and support smooth your transition

Today, you can count on HP to help you plan, design, implement, support and manage your Microsoft Office, Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Vista™ rollouts.

With over 22,000 Microsoft-skilled services professionals, HP Services is one of the largest integrators of Microsoft technologies and has been endorsed by Microsoft as Worldwide Prime Integrator for all existing and future products. We believe no other vendor is putting more "feet on the street" to support your transition and to help make it successful.

HP will share its experience and best practices for planning, development and operation of solutions based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 in HP ActiveAnswers, the on-line solutions authority for successful implementations.

In early 2007, ActiveAnswers will provide technical information and system configurators, as well as storage and performance tools to help you get more from the new Microsoft solutions.

HP IT infrastructure products and solutions compatible with new Microsoft technologies

HP StorageWorks products will provide full support for Microsoft Exchange 2007.

HP ProLiant servers with Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 Edition support 64-bit versions of Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.

HP Document Capture solutions support and compliment Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Windows Vista™ by providing customers with the tools to easily capture and index important information and integrate the content into existing business.

Compatible HP solutions simplify enterprise rollouts

Our collaboration with Microsoft helps to ensure that HP products and solutions work as seamlessly as possible with Exchange Server 2007, Windows Vista™ and the Microsoft Office System.

As you adopt these new solutions, you can feel confident that HP has laid the groundwork to deliver an excellent technology experience, while protecting your investments.

Drivers and plug-ins

As the No. 1 global leader in inkjet, all-in-one, single function, mono and color LaserJet printers, HP worked closely with Microsoft to ensure over 450 HP printing and imaging products will run smoothly on the new Microsoft solutions.

Since drivers can typically be a huge IT headache in large rollouts, HP will provide the HP Universal Print Driver — a single, full-featured driver that replaces individual drivers for HP networked printers. By deploying one intelligent driver, you can virtually eliminate the need for testing, qualifying and distributing multiple, device-specific print drivers. The Windows Vista™-enabled Universal Print Driver will be available in early 2007 and can help you save time and money while freeing IT staff for more pressing issues.

Further, HP OpenView, the leading end-to-end multi-platform management software suite, will support Windows Vista™ and Exchange Server 2007 environments in March, 2007. With a large number of enterprises expected to upgrade to Windows Vista™, HP OpenView smart plug-ins (SPIs) — including the Exchange Server 2007 SPI — are available for seamless interoperability with the new platforms.

A range of solutions ready to deploy

A broad and deep portfolio of HP products, services and solutions are now available to take advantage of the new Microsoft suites to help you reduce the complexity of large enterprise-wide rollouts — from end user desktop PCs, notebooks and workstations to data center servers and storage. (See related boxes in this feature for information about availability and timelines.)

Move forward with confidence

The new Microsoft enterprise suites will transform the way users around your company interact with technology — and each other. But, with any great change, comes great concern over how it will impact your business.

Now, you can rest a bit easier knowing that HP has paved the way for you with products designed to leverage the best experience from Microsoft technology and the services to help make your transition successful. With HP, you can move forward with less complexity and more confidence.
