The HP Technology for Teaching grant initiative involves a growing community of faculty from around the world. If you teach in a college or university and would like to learn more about using technology to enhance teaching and learning, you are invited to join the community in any of the following ways:
The HP Technology for Teaching Higher Education Online Speaker Series events are short, informal and interactive presentations by our community for our community, sharing the successes and challenges associated with transforming teaching and learning through the effective use of technology. These events are hosted approximately once per month.
These discussions are hosted in a web-based HP Virtual Meeting Room, where participants join by phone and web-browser. If you would like to have your email added to a mailing list announcing these events, or make a presentation in an upcoming meeting, please contact Jim Vanides.
Online archives of previous HP Online Speaker Series Events are recorded and posted on the web, compliments of the University of Wisconsin, Rock County.
Interested in learning about best practices and practical tips for the effective use of technology in higher education classrooms?
Jim Vanides, Program Manager for Worldwide Higher Education Philanthropy, has created a blog forum to share and discuss what we are all learning. We especially invite educators around the world to participate in this dialog, sharing personal experiences in using technology to enhance the success of all your students.
Join the dialog at www.hp.com/go/hied-blog.
SRI’s Center for Technology in Learning has released a draft “whitepaper” called “Measuring Learning: A guidebook for gathering and interpreting evidence” (Linda Shear, et al). The team has condensed decades of learning sciences into a practical, step-by-step reference guide to help faculty measure the impact that technology implementation projects will have on student learning.
It’s short, it’s practical, and it’s free! It’s in draft form, and SRI welcomes your comments. Feel free to download a free PDF at http://ctl.sri.com/projects/displayProject.jsp?Nick=hpguide.
Other excellent resources non assessment, including workshops, are available from ABET
