2005 HP Technology for Teaching Leadership Grant

Project Title: Mobile Studio "TabLab" - tablet PC's for Engineering & Science Inquiry

Abstract: This project expands on the Mobile Studio Tablet PC-based laboratory (TabLab) pedagogy and hardware/software technology developed and piloted in 2004-05, creating the next generation of low-cost, mobile studio learning environments. The Mobile Studio will enable faculty and students to establish an instrumentation-rich studio classroom/ laboratories in any space on/off campus, giving students access to user-friendly, computer-controlled instrumentation and data analysis techniques. Engineering and science courses can now include nearly instantaneous comparisons between theoretical predictions, simulations, and actual experimental results.
