The 11th Hour
HP is joining forces with the 11th Hour ACTION Campaign to combat climate change.

The 11th Hour ACTION Campaign is a year-long college tour of the 11th Hour documentary, narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. The film highlights the most important issues facing our planet and introduces leaders in the field aiming to combat these problems.  One such leader notes HP’s spirit of innovation, referring to Bill and Dave who founded the company in a garage in Palo Alto, the birthplace of Silicon Valley:

"Once we send the right signal from the marketplace, to the marketplace, that the two guys in the garage who created Hewlett-Packard, well those two guys today, I want them to be working on clean energy.” - The Economist’s Vijay Vaitheeswaran

HP's commitment to environmental responsibility

As a global technology leader, HP recognizes the impact we have on our environment. The IT industry is responsible for two percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide (Gartner, September 2007). HP has specific goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our operations and supply chain and to improve the energy efficiency of our products.  However, HP also believes that the IT industry, and HP in particular, has an incredible opportunity to impact the other 98 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions by offering innovative solutions to limit the carbon footprint of the world around us.

We take our responsibilities to the planet very seriously – and it shows.

»   We offer our customers a variety of energy efficient products.
» We exceeded our goal to recycle one billion pounds of equipment and are on track to recover 2 billion pounds by 2010
» We increased our use of renewable energy through solar and wind power.
» We close the loop and use recycled print cartridges in our new cartridges, without compromising quality
» Our Halo Collaboration Studios reduce emissions from business travel
» Our Dynamic Smart Cooling conserves energy in data centers.
