Energy use

HP operations consumed 4,122 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy in 2011, a small decrease from 4,140 million kWh in 2010. We saw an 11% decrease in natural gas use and a 1% increase in electricity use compared with 2010. In 2011 we started reporting our energy intensity to measure our performance relative to business growth. Using this metric, energy use per $ million USD of net revenue dropped 1% from 2010 to 2011, and decreased 13% compared with 2005.
