This month HP and
Microsoft announced an extension of their Frontline
Partnership, with up to $180M investment in new solutions for
Unified Collaboration and Communication (UCC). The
announcement was made during a keynote at the Interop event in
Las Vegas with a presentation by Ann Livermore, EVP HP TSG and
Marius Haas, SVP and GM HP ProCurve Networking, attended by
hundreds of delegates and transmitted around the world in
real-time by webcast. You can find the news release in the

Also this month, HP announced
its quarterly earnings for Q2. TSG at WW level posted a good
quarter delivering 47% of HP’s revenue and more than half of
HP’s profit. This translated into revenue of $13B and
operating profit (OP) at 12% of revenue. See below for full

Tesco (LSE: TSCO),
Britain’s leading supermarket chain, has announced pioneering
updates to its mission-critical Real Time Sales (RTS) systems,
virtualizing key business applications with Citrix® XenServer™
running on HP ProLiant BL680c G5 blade servers. With
infrastructure from Citrix (NASDAQ:CTXS) and HP (NYSE:HPQ) in
place, Tesco has increased its RTS capacity by 75 percent,
handling 1,500 sales-related messages per second – catering to
the critical nature of the RTS systems and creating room for
growth. This is a major milestone in Tesco’s plans to
virtualize its entire server
infrastructure. | |

Bankart, a card payment
processor in Slovenia has signed a deal with HP in order to
be provided with the new entry level Integrity NonStop system
NS2000. Within the next two years, Bankart will MODERNIZE
its ACI Base24-classic payments application onto two HP
Integrity NonStop BladeSystem NB50002c, that were
purchased in 2008 and will be used for Production
and Disaster Recovery. Bankart has now ordered an NS2000
for development and test ing. With their
modernized Payments environment, Bankart will lower the TCO
and at the same time have room to grow its
business. | |

Leipa is a paper mill
company. As a result of an established relationship involving
HP's proactive services and end-to-end product portfolio,
Leipa has signed an additional five year contract with HP to
refresh its server and storage infrastructure. The deal
includes Unix Servers and an EVA solution, switching
technology and services that will help Leipa deliver higher
server and storage performance. Leipa will also benefit
through decreased power and cooling costs. To win this deal,
HP partnered with Oracle. | |

TU Dortmund is one of
the leading universities in Germany and part of an alliance
between the Universities of Bochum, Dortmund and
Duisburg-Essen. TU Dortmund has signed a deal with HP which
includes, amongst others, 196x BL2x220c, 5x HP Modular Cooling
System G2 and HP RP36000/3 parallel UPS. These products
support now mainly the students and professors in the
faculties Physics and Chemistry. HP won the contract because
of its good customer relationship and due to the fact, that HP
met the customers requirements with an innovative concept. The
main competitors were: IBM, BULL and other leading companies
in the High Performance Computing
