marquee signHP celebrates filmmaking by sponsoring the top two film events in the world — Cannes Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.

Thanks to HP, film fans no longer just sit in a dark theater letting a story wash over them. With creative showcases and try-it-yourself workshops, HP's presence at film industry events transforms movie watching into an artistic interaction.

In keeping with the theme, HP also sponsors the British Film Institute, delivering technology that helps make the BFI's mission to promote greater appreciation of film and TV culture in the UK a reality.


British Film Institute — 2007


In 2007, HP became the principal sponsor of the British Film Institute, a national organization championing British film and television culture throughout the United Kingdom.

Through its sponsorship, HP enables greater public access to the BFI National Archive, helping BFI advance its mission to dramatically increase access to and understanding of motion media. HP provides BFI with the storage, distribution and display technologies to allow visitors to choose from thousands of digitized films and TV programs that have never or rarely been seen since they were made. HP is also consulting with BFI to design a database to efficiently manage its vast digital collections.

In addition, the innovative HP Indigo print-on-demand solution helps make the world's biggest collection of film stills and movie posters available to consumers. And BFI uses HP's Scitex Vision wide-format printing technology to fulfill advertising opportunities for its iconic Imax theater in London.

Cannes Film Festival — May 16-27, 2007


The largest and most famous film festival in the world is the ideal place for HP to showcase its technology. As the digital imaging and graphic arts partner to the Cannes Film Festival, HP enhances the movie-going experience with HP technology. At Cannes, HP is here, there and everywhere; all the signage and programs that attendees use to navigate the event are printed using HP printers, ink and papers.

Sundance Film Festival — January 17-26, 2007


As a champion of individual creativity, HP has been a presenting sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival since 2003, proudly partnering with one of the top events for independent filmmakers and fans worldwide. In 2006, HP hosted a technology summit, hands-on photography workshops, graphic art showcases, behind-the-scenes blogs and more. Attendees not only rubbed elbows with the creative and famous, they also captured, printed and shared their experiences with HP technology. When HP and Sundance come together, it's more than just a film festival — it's a creative collaboration.
