HP Supports House Ways and Means Committee and Passage of CAFTA
Statement by John Hassell, HP Director of Federal & State Government Affairs
For Immediate Release: June 15, 2005
“HP commends the leadership of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas (R-CA) and his Committee colleagues in advancing the U.S.-Central American and Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) in today’s legislative markup.
“HP and the U.S. tech industry will benefit from CAFTA from the elimination of tariffs and modernization of customs procedures and practices. Passage of CAFTA will serve as a model for future trade agreements and economic growth.
“Expanding U.S. market access to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua is an integral step in maintaining America’s competitiveness in today’s innovative society.
“HP looks forward to working with Congress to protect U.S. economic trade interests and advance America’s position in the global marketplace.”
