This course helps service professionals prepare for HP Service Qualification which is required for warranty labor reimbursements and service partner program entitlements. Accredited Platform Specialist (APS) certification is a requirement for Service Qualification and includes completion of exam HP2-T12. This training helps prepare for the exam.

Course overview

Servicing ProLiant ML/DL Server training focuses on using service information resources, utilities, and diagnostic tools to install, configure, troubleshoot and repair ML/DL products.

The class includes service information resources and how to access them and provides an overview of the Systems Insight Manager and HP Troubleshooting methods. The student will become familiar with the technology, features, component layout, and service considerations for ML/DL hardware as a foundation for the diagnostic process. Lab exercises provide the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with ML/DL products and tools. Activities include server setup, use of utilities, and installing and configuring storage options.


Prerequisites

The prerequisite classes and experience provide critical preparation for the HP ProLiant Server Maintenance exam, number HP2-T12

Before attending this course, you must complete the web-based training:

  • HP ProLiant Family (course ID 205) (4 hours)
  • Server Basics (course ID 209) (4 hours) – recommended for those who have not completed CompTIA Server+ training before taking the Servicing HP ProLiant Server course

Audience

The course is available to HP partners and customers. It is intended for first and second level support professionals who are responsible for servicing and supporting HP ProLiant ML/DL Server products. This course helps service professionals prepare for HP APS exam HP2-T12.


Course objectives

The goal of Servicing HP ProLiant server products is to ensure a consistent base level of expertise among service engineers certified to troubleshoot, and repair ProLiant server products. This course focuses on providing the knowledge and skills needed to provide these services. To meet this goal, field service engineers should be able to:

  • Locate and use HP information resources for ProLiant servers
  • Describe HP Insight Management Agents and how they integrate with other features to facilitate the management of ProLiant servers
  • Access and be familiar with the features of the Systems Management Homepage
  • List the components and applications that are required to manage a HP SIM system
  • Describe the HP SIM architecture
  • Install and configure the server hardware and options
  • Use HP SmartStart or manual process to install an operating system
  • Use the HP Array Configuration Utility and HP Insight Diagnostics. Install and use System Management Homepage and Lights-Out remote management to access a server and event logs
  • Discuss storage technologies
  • Explain fault tolerance and redundant technologies that can be implemented to protect data and increase availability
  • Describe the six-step HP Troubleshooting Methodology
