Course overview

This 5-day hands-on course provides an overview of CCI (version 1.5) to include a summary of the functionality and technology introduced with the CCI solution, considerations for implementing and supporting CCI, and where to go for more information.

In this course, students will get the hands-on experience to build a Small Reference Design (SRD) in labs and validate their SRD to make the connection from the Thin Client access device to as HP Blade PC. The students will:

  • Review and/or design a CCI solution in a production environment
  • Install, set up, and configure CCI components
  • Provide support to isolate and resolve problems with components of the CCI solution

Prerequisites

To get the most benefit from this class and before performing CCI configuration or support tasks, you should be able to:

  • Create, capture, and deploy an image on a Blade PC and a Thin Client using HP Rapid Deployment Pack (HP RDP)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Windows XP Professional administrative templates and Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (MS RDP)
  • Perform Windows 2003 Server administrative tasks
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Windows 2003 Enterprise or Standard Edition Server platform key components including: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, domain server, and Group Policy and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of network infrastructure concepts and definitions, standard TCP/IP networking and associated concepts
  • Perform tasks to install and implement ProLiant Essentials products: HP Systems Insight Manager and SmartStart to install operating system software and monitor Blade PCs

Recommended Familiarity with:

  • Deploying and updating Insight Control Environment: RDP (HE645S)
  • Have read the CCI Solution white paper
  • Understanding of the system administrator’s role for a CCI deployment within your organization

Audience

  • This course is primarily for IT staff personnel who will be responsible for approving a CCI design, overseeing its implementation and providing day-to-day management of it. This course should be taken by any customer who has committed to deploying CCI, or who has already done so
