HP Performance Insight Software: Administration II

Course overview

This 5-day course will make students self-sufficient in building Performance Insight reporting solutions and in the implementation and automation of advanced Performance Insight deployments – including multi-server, distributed, and failover configurations using HP Performance Insight Software version 5.2. This lecture and lab course is taught on Windows® platforms, but includes information for operating PI on Unix systems.

Prerequisites

• HP Performance Insight Software: Administration I (U5678S)
• The advanced course assumes you are VERY familiar with adding and grouping nodes, creating profiles, setting up users and catalogs, viewing reports, filtering data, and maintaining the database
• Familiarity with the SNMP protocol (MIBs, instance identifiers) and relational databases
• An understanding of basic statistical analysis functions

HP Performance Insight Software Multi-Server Installation

• Learn how to plan, prepare, and configure an HP Performance Insight Software multi-server installation by installing Central and Satellite servers on Windows 2000

Distributed HP Performance Insight Software Deployments

• Learn how deploy and manage a multi-server HP Performance Insight Software environment and use trendcopy to replicate data between HP Performance Insight Software servers

Provisioning Distribution

• Become familiar with the processes used to automate HP Performance Insight Software provisioning and synchronize provisioned information across multiple distributed HP Performance Insight Software servers

Automating HP Performance Insight Software Routine Maintenance

• Plan your reporting solution for a distributed PI envirionment by mapping which levels of data are retained on the satellite servers and which areas of reports can be filled with data from the central server
