Course overview

The HP Integrity Superdome 2 server offers a solid foundation for mission-critical converged infrastructures. This course provides an overview of the complex components and practical experience using the enhanced Onboard Administrator (OA) management tools to monitor and manage the Superdome 2 complex, including node and virtual partitions. The course is 50 percent lecture and 50 percent hands-on labs using HP servers.


  • HP-UX System and Network Administration I (H3064S) and
  • HP-UX System and Network Administration II (H3065S) or
  • HP-UX System and Network Administration for Experienced UNIX® System Administrators (H5875S) or
  • Equivalent HP-UX administration experience


  • Experienced HP-UX system administrators responsible for managing and monitoring Superdome 2 servers

Course objectives

At the conclusion of this course you should be able to:

  • Correlate Superdome 2 (SD2) hardware components with their functionality within the complex
  • Interface with the OA to configure, monitor, manage, and access SD2 components and firmware
  • Interact with the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) to configure partition boot parameters and manually boot a partition
  • Configure, manage, and control virtual partitions (vPars v5) from the Superdome OA
  • Configure Instant Capacity compute resources in a Superdome 2 partition
