Course overview

This course prepares you to install, use and troubleshoot a Virtual Tape Server (VTS). Topics include the subsystem architecture, installation and cabling of the VTS system, differentiation of key processes, server approaching, software administration, cartridge creation, export and import, and basic troubleshooting. This 3-day course is 70 percent lecture and 30 percent hands-on labs using a VTS system and HP servers.


Prerequisites

  • Any HP NonStop server field support training course and
  • Familiarity with NSK tape handling and
  • Familiarity with Linux and
  • Familiarity with HP ProLiant DL38* and MSA storage

  • Two 6530 terminals or equivalent PC/workstation for instructor demonstrations
  • 6530 terminal or equivalent PC/workstation per student
  • VT5900-X VTS with HDV/LDV converter - SCSI cables - software licenses
