Course overview
This 2-day course covers information needed to successfully deploy and manage XenServer Enterprise Edition 5.0 and the XenCenter management client. The course includes hands on labs where learners install and configure a virtualization server and then connect to the server with XenCenter. Students will then create a mix of Windows and Linux virtual machines. Next, students will create a XenServer resource pool and connect to remote storage. This allows students to explore advanced XenServer capabilities such as XenMotion and Automatic VM placement.
Prerequisites
Before taking this course, it is recommended that learners have the following:
A basic knowledge of the purpose and goals of virtualization technology
An understanding of computing architecture, including network and storage devices, device drivers and operating systems
Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2003 and Linux variants
Intermediate knowledge of network devices and site architecture, including configuring vLANs
Basic knowledge of storage terminology and technologies, including partitions, SANs, LUNs, iSCSI, and NFS and CIFS file shares
Audience
This course is intended for IT professionals, system architects and system engineers.
