Quality
Logic study finds Original HP
cartridges are more reliable |
 |
 |
| It's no contest. When tested against remanufactured
cartridges, Original HP Black LaserJet toner cartridges
repeatedly beat the competition in reliability and quality.
And we have the independent results to prove it. QualityLogic,
one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations,
recently tested the performance of HP Black LaserJet toner
cartridges vs. several remanufactured toner brands. The

More than 1/3 of all
black remanufactured toner cartridges included in
the survey had some problem, such as premature failure
or low-quality pages. |

Every single Original
HP Black LaserJet toner cartridge tested by Quality
Logic worked perfectly, with no failures. |

The
proof is in the printing |
 |
 |
| Remanufactured brands claim their product is as reliable as
Original HP cartridges, but the numbers tell a different story.
The QualityLogic study1 showed that: |
 |
 |
| • |
More than one-third of
the pages inspected from the remanufactured cartridges
tested were of limited or no use. |
|
 |
| • |
More than 96% of the
pages inspected from the Original HP cartridges
tested were acceptable for all uses. |

Remanufactured toner:
More than 1 in 3 (over 33%) |
| • |

(4%) |
|
|
 |
| Even though the price of remanufactured
cartridges may seem lower, when you factor in the unusable or
low-quality pages, the problem cartridges and poor text quality,
the cost for using Original HP cartridges may actually be lower
than that of remanufactured cartridges. |

Business
users report problems with remanufactured toner |
 |
 |
| In an independent survey, Lyra Research
interviewed HP customers who have used remanufactured cartridges
and have experienced problems with those cartridges. Here's
what they found: |
 |
 |
| • |
30% said that the problematic
remanufactured cartridges leaked into their printer. |
|
 |
| • |
Over 50% of monochrome
laser users complained of poor print quality for
text. |
|
 |
| • |
On average, customers
lost use of their monochrome laser printer for nearly
a day and a half per problem. |

Lost time: 1-1/2 days

|
|
 |
| As you can see, the true cost of
using remanufactured toner cartridges is not only the very tangible
waste of money and paper, it's also the extra time spent dealing
with problems that arise from using unreliable remanufpaper,

A 2007 independent study, performed
by QualityLogic Inc. and commissioned by HP, compared
Original HP LaserJet print cartridges with nine brands
of remanufactured toner cartridges sold in North America
for the HP LaserJet 2300 (Q2473A) and HP LaserJet 4350
(Q5407A) printers. 24 cartridges were tested for each
brand in the study. See the QualityLogic

Problem cartridges, as defined by
the QualityLogic study, include: |
 |
• |
Dead on Arrival
(DOA)—cartridges that have substantial toner leakage
(1 cc or more) before or during the installation process,
print 10 or fewer pages before print quality degrades
to Unusable and/or fail to print when first installed. |
 |
• |
Premature
Failure (PF), meaning that they have a page yield of less
than 75% of the Average Page Yield for that cartridge
brand/model and/or they leak substantial toner (1 cc or
more) anytime during printing. |
 |
• |
Low Quality
Cartridges, 50% or more of the sampled pages are categorized
as Limited Use or Unusable (but are neither DOA nor PF). |

A 2007 independent survey conducted
by Lyra Research, commissioned by HP, of HP printer customers
who experienced problems with non-HP branded cartridges
(127 monochrome laser users, 105 colour laser users and
158 ink users). |
