Introduction

See the importance of using Original HP ink and toner for optimal print quality and value. Then, learn easy ways to purchase Original HP supplies, along with programs to help you save.

Why Original HP ink and toner

HP inks vs. bargain inks
With Original HP ink cartridges, get up to 65% more pages than with bargain inks1.
While bargain ink cartridges may seem like a good deal, independent research shows that more than 33% of tested refilled ink cartridges failed prematurely or right out of the box1, and more than 41% of the tested cartridges refilled by a refill service failed during use or right out of the box.
Only the tested Original HP ink cartridges worked every time, with no cartridge failures. With Original HP ink cartridges printing up to 65% more pages than bargain ink1, Original HP ink stacks up as the better value.

Ink, toner & paper finder

Enter a printer or supply name / number:
(e.g. Photosmart 7960, HP 57, C4844A)
When you purchase at the HP online ink store, you don’t even need to know your ink cartridge number if you know your easy-to-find printer model number.
Every HP ink is identified by a number. HP offers several places you can find the number of the right ink for your printer:
1) Inside your printer
Each Original HP ink cartridge has its number written clearly on the side. Any cartridges with suffixes (letters or words) that come after the cartridge number are also compatible.
2) Online
The HP online ink store makes it easy to identify the proper ink. Just look at the front of your printer for the model number, and enter it.
3) Your printer box
If you still have it, look on the outside of your printer box for recommended HP ink cartridges. Also, look for a wallet-sized card inside your printer box (included with many HP printers and All-in-Ones), which will list your printer model and recommended inks. Keep it in your wallet for quick reference while shopping.
4) Your printer manual
Look inside your printer manual for suggested HP ink cartridges.
5) Ink cartridge boxes
You’ll find a list of compatible HP printers on each Original HP ink cartridge box.
Helpful hint: Once you’ve identified the Original HP ink cartridges that are compatible with your printer, record the numbers either in your address book, phone, or somewhere you’ll always have access to them—even when you’re away from home at the office supply store!
